A structured way to read IC and component datasheets: features, absolute maximum ratings, recommended conditions, electrical tables, timing and application circuits.
Read in the right order
Begin with the Features and Description to confirm fit, then jump to Absolute Maximum Ratings (never design to these) and Recommended Operating Conditions (design here). The Electrical Characteristics tables give guaranteed specs over temperature and supply.
Study the pin configuration, equivalent internal schematics, timing diagrams and typical-application circuits, which often provide a proven reference design.
Watch the fine print
Note test conditions attached to every spec (voltage, temperature, load). “Typical” values are not guaranteed. Check package drawings at the end for footprint and thermal data.
Use the revision history and errata to avoid known silicon issues, and download the latest revision before sign-off.
